My name is Jacob Ferguson. I am 22 years old and live in Montgomery, Texas with my family, including my 17 year old brother who also has FA. I am working on a business degree at LoneStar College and Sam Houston State University. I love to work out and work with a trainer at our local gym a few days a week.
I am always up for adventure. We just returned from a trip to Mexico. We had a blast! We were able to scuba dive in the resort dive pool, parasail over the ocean, and deep sea fishing all for the first time!
I was diagnosed with FA when I was in 2nd grade right around my 8th birthday. After my family had gone on a beach trip, my mom noticed I was unable to keep up with my cousins. We went to an orthopedic doctor when we got back to Texas who immediately referred us to a neurologist. We went to that appointment where I had to go through the general neurological tests ending with some blood work. Several weeks later, my parents were called into the office and given the diagnosis. I started using a wheelchair in 9th grade but still used my walker a lot.
