The New Jersey Seaside Stride was held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Catharine's Church in Seaside Park, NJ. By no coincidence this was also FA Awareness Day! FA families from all over the northeast head to the jersey shore to help raise awareness and funds for FA research. Even the threat of bad weather this year did not keep people away. Our crowd reached is usual 200 attendees. We start the day with breakfast and coffee, then a relaxing stroll along the shore on the Seaside Park and Seaside Heights boardwalk. After the walk, we meet back at the Church to enjoy a delicious lunch hosted by Carrabba’s Italian Grill of Bricktown, NJ, and take a chance at winning an item from over 50 basket in our gift auction. Music and emcee is provided by Billy Mann productions. It truly is a day full of fun and family and we invite anyone to join us.
Since its inception, the NJ Seaside Stride has raised close to $250,000 for FA research! Several NJ families work together to make this fundraiser a success. Just goes to show what we can do when we put our talents together for an amazing cause. We work hard to pull this off every year but the fun of the day outweighs the work. Giving hope to our children for a treatment and cure is all the thanks we need.
We are grateful to Carrabba’s, our generous sponsors, and St. Catharine of Sienna Parish for helping us to make this possible. The friendships are irreplaceable, the encouragement, indispensable. Above all, we know that the cure is inevitable. Not hopeful. Not promising. Inevitable.
