The first annual Knock Out FA event was held on October 16th at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL. Knock Out FA was a very entertaining KnockerBall soccer tournament where teams of 8 competed in a bracket style tournament trying to advance to the next round. For every goal scored, each team member was awarded a raffle ticket they could place into a number of amazing raffle drawings! The final winning team was awarded a pair of Zeal sunglasses for each member of the team.
We were so blessed with a beautiful October day and a wide range of players! We had high school students all the way to a 55 year old participating on a team! The event was a nice way to illustrate how those that are affected by FA experience the everyday. We took a sport that most all have played, but by being in the knockerball suit, it limited a player's abilities to play as they normally would. But just like all those I know affected with FA, it didn’t stop anyone from making the most of the situation and having a ball! After all expenses paid, the event raised a total was just shy of $4,000!
