It does not seem all that long ago, but Brad and Dave have been in the dunes for almost two years. While living in the land of sand and deer, we have met many wonderful people including the Hook family who has been exceptionally open and kind to us. In fact, thanks to Tom and Paula we now have a dog named Lucy, a sledge hammer and a Christmas tree sculpture. Tom and Paula have three charming daughters in their twenties; two of their children have a rare neurodegenerative disorder called Friedreich's ataxia. Like most people, we had never heard of it, but we have since learned of the impact the disorder has on children and young adults.

Since Friedreich's ataxia is a relatively unknown disease, there are limited funds available for research. There are dedicated doctors and research teams who are beginning to make progress toward understanding and one day curing the disease. To assist their efforts, we have decided to help raise some funds for medical research and have a big party in the process.

For those of you who will not be able to journey to Indiana for a bowl of chili and you are able to send a donation, please mail us a check made out to FARA. We will send all the checks together to the organization which is headquartered in Virginia. Any size donation is appreciated. When Brad talked to the people at FARA, they were thrilled to have your support.

For those of you who would rather show off your culinary skills. Bring over any baked goods and we will sell them.

For those of you who would like to contribute to FARA by buying cakes, cookies, bread and such, this is an opportunity to get some "good eats."
