The program includes:

• Dr. Susan Perlman from UCLA, speaking about making a diagnosis or treatment of ataxias, and information about how a Centers of Exellence will make diagnosis, treatment, and research more productive.

• Speakers from Scripps Research Institute, discussing the exciting discoveries and research being done in San Diego, including Dr. Elisabeth Soragni (a recipient of a NAF Research Grant) speaking on two approaches aimed at silencing the GAA repeats, and Dr. David Herman speaking about recent drug discovery efforts of potential therapeutics and target identification for second generation drugs.

• Dr. Jessica Mosich from St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, will be presenting her research findings on the biopsychosocial model of medicine, which places emphasis on treating the whole person, from genes to community.

In starting a new tradition, Bridgewater Youth Soccer is proud to announce its second annual Charitable Fundraiser Event. Last year's Bridgewater Youth Soccer Revolution night, to raise awareness and money for FARA (Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance), was so successful and fun that BYSA would like to continue the tradition.

September 23, 2006 — BYSA Family Night at the Revolution
The Bridgewater Youth Soccer Association (BYSA) in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, plans to have an event on September 23, 2006 called "BYSA Family Night at the Revolution." This event will be held at Gillette Stadium home of the New England Revolution soccer team and the New England Patriots football team. The game will be between the New England Revolution and the Kansa City Wizards which is one of the largest attended games of the season. The main goal of the "BYSA Family Night at the Revolution" is to raise funds for FARA on behalf of Tiffany Gambill and for awareness of Friedreich's Ataxia and FARA research to find a treatment and possible cure. Country-music star Martina McBride will be in concert at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, September 16, 2006 in the 6th annual "Beauty of a Bonzer" event that is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and Budweiser for the benefit of various charities [ see www.BeautyofaBonzer.com ]. This year’s charities include the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance [ FARA ] in collaboration with the Human Energy Project at Arizona State University.

September 10, 2006 — Fuzzy Buzzy Charity Golf Tournament

You are invited to the 20th annual Fuzzy Buzzy, scheduled for Sunday September 10th, 2006. This will be the 10th year the Windham Golf and Country Club has reserved their course for our event.

For the 3rd year we will be supporting the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). This is a foundation in need of contributions to help raise awareness and find a cure for the neuromuscular disease. My niece, Erin O’Neil, who is very special to me and my family, has been afflicted with this illness. Last year we raised $3,500 and this year we hope to double that amount.

Our new format will be a shotgun start with a Tee time of 1:30 pm. This year’s fee of $120 includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, prizes and the clubs excellent barbecue following the tournament in the grill room.

Your timely response is respectively requested as I have made a major commitment to the Windham course. As in the past registrations and reservations will be made on a first come first serve basis.
