Alaa A.
Alaa has served as a FARA Ambassador since 2026 and dedicates her time to raising awareness about Friedreich’s ataxia and supporting others within the FA community. She is a student at Wayne State University studying Communication Sciences and Disorders and hopes to pursue a career in speech-language pathology, with a focus on neurological speech disorders. She especially values FARA events that bring the community together and advance research toward effective treatments and a cure. Alaa would tell someone newly diagnosed, “This diagnosis is part of your story, not the end of it. There is research progressing, a community behind you, and a future still yours to shape.”
