Derek Hennecke is a seasoned biotech entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) industry. He is the founder and former CEO of Xcelience, a Florida-based CDMO specializing in preformulation, micronization, analytical services, and cGMP manufacturing, which he successfully sold to Capsugel Lonza in 2016. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Alberta, an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University, and a Master of Science in Biology from Harvard University, where he conducted research on CAR T. His academic and professional journey underscores his deep interest in cell therapy and pharmaceutical development. Currently, Derek serves as the executive chairman of the boards for Microsize and Particle Dynamics and is a board director for several companies, including Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing, Everest Clinical, AVS Bio, Inceptor Bio and Kincell.
