In a community statement, Neurocrine Biosciences announced the first clinical study (the FACET™ study) of NBIB-223, an investigational gene therapy treatment for FA.

NBIB-223 is designed as a one-time intravenous administration to deliver the frataxin gene to key tissues affected by FA, including the brain and heart.
