CIRM announces $7.4 million funding award for CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells for Friedreich’s ataxia

In a press release earlier this week (December 11, 2025), CIRM (California Institute for Regenerative Medicine) announced a funding award of $7.4 million to Dr. Stephanie Cherqui/UCSD for CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing of Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells for Friedreich’s ataxia.
