Getting Started

We understand that fundraising isn’t easy and asking for support might be outside of your comfort zone, but we’ve learned that it’s all about mindset. People do want to help, and by sharing your story and your purpose, you give them the opportunity to do so. Once you decide which fundraising approach works best for you, make a simple plan for your next steps.

Ways to Fundraise

Grassroots/Community Events

Grassroots events are community‑driven fundraisers that offer countless ways for people to support FARA’s mission by hosting or participating in local events.

Team FARA

Team FARA is a global community of people who raise awareness and fundraise for FA by participating in events, celebrating milestones, and getting involved in meaningful ways.

Letter Writing

Letter‑writing campaigns allow people to easily educate family and friends about FA, share their personal experiences, and raise support for research.

rideATAXIA

Through bike rides of varying distances, rideATAXIA empowers individuals with FA, their families, and supporters to reach their goals and raise crucial funds for research.

Hometown

rideATAXIA Hometown offers teammates the opportunity to ride individually or host local events for their community.

Restaurant Give Back Nights

Gather your community by hosting a give back night at a local restaurant/store where a portion of the proceeds supports FA research!

Virtual Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

There are also many peer-to-peer fundraising options that you can choose from — explore them here!

FARA Staff is here to support you!

The FARA Staff is experienced in event planning and fundraising. The team is happy to support you in planning your event —  brainstorming ideas, building a website, gathering a guest list, helping to evaluate venues and vendors, linking you with a mentor, and more! Whatever you need, FARA is here to help and to partner with you! Contact us at info@curefa.org.

How FARA Can Support You

Learn how FARA can help with promoting your fundraising efforts! Explore our Fundraising Manual here.

FARA utilizes the GoFundMe Pro fundraising platform to create event websites, and to collect donations and registration fees. FARA Staff will work with those hosting grassroots events or campaigns to decide which website option is appropriate and design the website using your desired event branding. Explore Website Platform Options here.

FARA publishes all fundraising events on our website’s Events Calendar (curefa.org/events).

FARA Monthly Newsletter: FARA includes a list of upcoming events in our monthly newsletter. Just let us know when your event is, and we can add it in!

Press Releases: FARA Staff can work with you to write a press release for your event and help share it with your local media.

Social Media: FARA posts a monthly list of upcoming events on social media with the event name, date, location and a note to visit curefa.org/events for more information. Due to the number of grassroots events, we are unable to share customized posts for grassroots events. We encourage organizers to host their own social media pages to engage with your event supporters and create excitement around the event.
