June 4, 2016 was a beautiful day for a good ole bike ride. Considering that we dedicated this day to the rideATAXIA in NorCal. We had a very good turnout this year. Our ride had close to 300 riders. We raised $90,151.00 and the donations continue to roll in. This is incredible!
This year’s ride was held in a new location with different routes, and I have to say the routes were peaceful, with very few cars on the road. We were surrounded by walnut and almond orchards. It was as if a painting had come to life. Our riders were given the choice of 52, 23, and 10 miles to ride. I rode alongside my geneticist and we conquered the 10 miler together. Might I add, this was after a week of only riding my bike on a limited basis prior to the event.
Our ride is also known for the rest stops, aka we are nicknamed the rideASNACKSIA. Our rest stops are fully stocked. Not to mention, that before the ride even begins we have a breakfast that is put on by my friends and family, what a great team. We also have help from fellow FAmily. Also, I want to say thank you to Outback for the meal they prepare for us all.
The ride was a huge success and one for the books. rideATAXIA gives us a chance to connect with others, share our stories, and bring more awareness to a challenge that we all have in common, FA.
